Meet The Icons: Josie Baff

At just 22, Josie Baff is already a force on the world stage. A snowboard cross athlete ranked #4 globally, Josie is the definition of an ICON — relentlessly driven, performance-focused, and radiating a positivity that’s impossible to miss.

Q: When did you first start snowboarding?
A: I started snowboarding when I was 5. Before that, I was skiing — I think I first clicked into skis when I was just 2 years old. But when I made the switch to snowboarding, I never looked back.

Q: Your first competition?
A: I was 16 when I competed at the Youth Olympics — and I actually won! That was wild because I hadn’t done many competitions before, I didn’t really know my competitors, and I had zero expectations. That moment has stuck with me ever since.

Q: Most memorable race so far?
A: It was my first international event. I was leading the final, and then another rider overtook me. But instead of being frustrated, I remember being excited — I realised just how far I could go and how much potential I had to grow in the sport. That moment fired me up.

Q: What would you tell your younger self?
A: I’d say: keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Stay true to yourself. Don’t change your values to fit someone else’s path. For me, having fun was always my edge — and it worked.
