Meet Nadin Boum

Meet personal trainer and gym owner Nadin Boum

Personal trainers are experts in physical fitness, nutrition, and health. They work with their clients to help them reach their fitness goals, providing guidance and support along the way. We asked each of our personal trainers who are leading our TOGETHER WE ROCK 6 Week bootcamp, questions about their careers to gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to become a successful personal trainer.

Introducing our first personal trainer, Nadin Boum.

Nadin and her partner Cameron own a gym located in Smeaton Grange, NSW. She has built a community both on social media and in the gym where her main focus is helping people become the best version of themselves by using exercise. We asked her about her career and this is what she had to say:

What inspired you to become a personal trainer, and how long have you been in the profession?

My purpose is to help others become their best selves, to boost their confidence, self esteem and go beyond their potential. Being in the fitness industry for the last almost 3 years It has been an honour to help so many people achieve their goals not just physically but also mentally. 

What motivates you to maintain your own fitness routine, and how do you stay committed to your goals?

Mental health is so important to me - when I exercise it helps release endorphins which helps me keep it a priority and ensures I stay committed to how exercise makes me feel rather than how it makes me look. 

What advice do you have for clients who may be struggling with motivation or feeling discouraged, and how do you help them adjust their mindset and stay on track?

The advice I would give is just stick to it, even if it’s once a week that’s 52 days more than 0 per year. If you’re scared to start or feeling discouraged, try to start with a personal trainer or get yourself a training buddy to help hold you accountable and most importantly make it fun! 

What is your approach to self-care and stress management, and how do you prioritize these practices in your own life?

My approach to self care and stress management is moving my body, I do this through ensuring no matter what is going on in my life that I either go for a walk, weight lift, pilates or do some form of exercise to help me manage my stress at least 3 days per week. 

Journaling helps whenever I feel overwhelmed and ensures I manage my stress a lot better too. 

What are some of the psychological benefits of regular exercise, and how have you seen these benefits manifest in your clients?

It helps with stress management by releasing endorphins and making you feel amazing post exercise. 

My clients always come out of their sessions feeling happier, stronger and it creates a domino effect for the rest of their day. 

What do you think the benefits are of having a workout buddy?

I think it is so beneficial to have a workout buddy as it helps you stay on track. Especially when it comes to motivation, if one of you don’t feel like training and your workout buddy does, it means you have that extra push to get your session done!

Do you have any advice for individuals who are just starting a fitness journey?

My honest advice is the hardest part is starting, YOU HAVE GOT THIS! Once you start you just have to stick to it and remember consistency is the key. 

Even if some days you skip the gym, just re start the next day and focus on your goals. Do not be discouraged if you lack motivation, just remember it’s a lifestyle approach. When you make fitness your lifestyle, there is no going back! 

How do you customize workouts to meet the specific needs and goals of your clients?

I customise workouts to meet the specific needs and goals of each client by sitting down with them during a private consult discussing what they want to achieve from training, test what their abilities are through a screening and how I can best help them achieve their goal. Combining a private consult, performance testing and a body analysis scan which highlights body fat percentage, muscle and measurements. 

What is your approach to nutrition, and how do you educate clients on healthy eating habits?

My approach to nutrition for my clients is I work closely with a nutritionist who customises a meal plans depending on each clients goals. I always ensure my clients have a lifestyle approach where it’s 80% wholesome, nutritious foods and of course 20% soul foods. 

Can you share an example of a success story from a client you have worked with, and how their life changed as a result of working with a personal trainer?

“When I first started training with Nadin, I was struggling both physically and mentally. I had put myself in a rut over my weight gain and was struggling to get myself back into fitness alone.

It’s been a year now consistently showing up to PT sessions with Nadin I have lost 10 kilograms and I’m doing so much better physically and mentally. Nadin is the most energetic and amazing human and an absolute killer PT - I’m so glad I have her” Liv Warner
